Commitment

Hello There,
I recently made the commitment to do something that I've been thinking about for some time.  I've decided to cycle in the Solvang Century with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training.   What does that mean? It means that I'll be training to ride 100+ miles of mountainous roads ascending more than 4000+ feet.  At the same time I've committed myself to raise funds for the LLS and help increase awareness of the LLS and the essential services that they provide.  This is where I'll need your help.

When I first learned of TNT I was naturally interested in the tremendous opportunity to receive great training, and help those in need all at the same time.  I'll admit that I was terrified at the prospect of having to ask others for money.  Anyone that knows me, knows that I hate having to ask for things.  I'd rather provide something I feel is of value and have people feel like they've received something in return.  I need to get over that.  I mustn't let my pride get in the way of the cause.  My pride and fear is what delayed my involvement in TNT for many seasons.

So what changed my mind? It's simple really; it wasn't until I went to the doctors office to have myself looked at that I changed my mind.  In the doctors office there was a little boy who wasn't more than 8 years old.  He was a good looking boy, well behaved, yet light-hearted.  It was obvious that he'd been through chemotherapy.  I felt soo sorry for him.  It was then that I made up my mind to train and help fundraise for the LLS.

I'm now commited to to raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma.  To this end I'm asking you to join with me and help support the LLS in its mission.  I have till January 5th, 2010 to raise $7,500.  I know the economic climate is challenging and that we are clouded in uncertainty and fear.  This is a wonderful opportunity to truly make a difference.  It doesn't matter if you donate $5, $50 or $1,000, it only matters that you donate.  We are given precious few opportunities to do great things and this is one of them.  I know a couple of you have already donated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I have about 2 months to reach my goal.  I hope you will support me by contributing to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on my behalf.  This really is for a worthy cause.
